Rock DJ

It’s not often we head up to Bristol, but when you get nominated as one of the Best Small Companies in the South West, it seemed rude not to get the DJ out of storage and shake your thang. Here are lots of photos.

Let battle commence

So our CEO Oli Christie went on a solo mission to the Marriott Hotel and joined a table of Gloucestershire businesses, who were doing battle with the might of Wiltshire, Bristol, Somerset, Cornwall et al. It was a vicious battle, you can imagine.

Western Daily Press Awards 2014

Racy lady

A lady called Penny Mallory, a successful female rally driver, was our compere for the evening and our Small Biz category was the penultimate award to be dished out. All good things come to those who wait…

Six of the best

There were six companies in our category so our odds were, um, 6-1. Brilliant. So we weren’t that hopefully really, but we had a chance at least.

Western Daily Press Awards - Small Business nominees

Every little helps

Some chap from Tesco came up for his moment of glory in the spotlight to announce the winner. He did the old X-Factor delay thing to heighten the tension. It did. Palms were sweaty. Nails were bitten.

And the winner is…

Neon Play was called out, there was jubilation (for Oli anyway) and the Gloucestershire table went mildly delirious. Everyone else clapped politely. The assembled group of paparazzi snapped away furiously as Oli gurned raising his frame and award aloft. It was like the Oscars, minus the glamour and the selfies.

Go go Glos

Of the five Gloucestershire companies up for awards on the night, three of us won, so well done to Versarian and Printwaste Recycling. We showed ‘em!

Feeling blue

The great news is that having won quite a few glass awards where you can’t read a word of inscription on them, this award is blue and sort of crystal shaped. So hugely exciting to have something different looking on our awards shelf. (Shelves really, but we don’t want to show off).

Oli Christie, CEO of Neon Play commented, “It’s a huge compliment from the Western Daily Press to be voted the Best Small Business in the South West. It’s thanks to the amazing Neon Play team that we’ve won this award and their hard work and dedication to making the very best games we can. The future is bright…”
