School's out!

It's always fun speaking at industry events or to universities, but our CEO Oli Christie had a new challenge this week - talking to a bunch of 11 year olds about marketing and how to make money. A challenge indeed.

He had been invited to Rendcomb College Junior School to speak to J6 and here he is below, looking slightly daunted by 25 children all listening intently. So he thinks anyway!

Oli spoke about Neon Play, his early business ventures selling origami fortune tellers, car sunshades, T-shirts and doing nightclub nights! Mixed success it's fair to say with some of them...

Luckily, most of the children had played some of Neon Play's games so he was on solid ground there. There were sensible and intelligent questions and Oli was asked how much profit they made on games and if he was a "gazillionaire"!! Cheeky!

And then they all went to the ICT room where about 10 teams of three or four kids had done some marketing material for a made-up travel company selling holidays to the dream island of Tenerife. Some of the work was really good for a first attempt and Oli gave some top tips for consistent branding, fonts, layout, simplicity, etc. All in all, a good lesson all round!

Oli Christie, CEO of Neon Play commented, "I really enjoyed going along to Rendcomb to meet all the J6 classes. They were keen to listen and asked some questions well beyond their years. If we can encourage children to think entrepreneurally at a young age, hopefully it will help motivate the next generation to great things."
