How to impress an employer...

We have recently been looking for a marketing executive to join the growing team of Neon Players. And it’s been an interesting journey with a mixed bag of candidates.

After over 30 CVs, endless telephone interviews and a handful of face-to-face interviews, we eventually got our man, and he’ll be joining us in February to help us market all our wonderful little apps.

Facebook me up

And on the day we offered him the job, we also got another application that deeply impressed us. A girl called Sophie had seen on the job description that an ability to use Facebook was a key part of the role. So she had taken the initiative to set up her own Facebook page called “Neon Play should consider Sophie for the position of Marketing Executive”. 

The page description was this. “Please like my page, I am trying to prove my worth to get a job interview for an absolutely amazing job via the power of Facebook. “

Viral job application

So straight away, she got our attention and as a result, the whole company saw her Facebook page and our Facebook friends did as well. Social media in action. She stood out a mile from the crowd and if we hadn’t filled the role, she would have guaranteed herself an interview.
