Neon Play

We're proud to be an Hachette UK company

Up for the cup!

It's been a fantastic year for Neon Play and as we race past the 42 million download mark plus pick up a few awards nominations, we thought it was time for our annual trip go-karting. So off we sped to the mecca that is Gloucester and we got togged up in our kit.

Here are the team at the "safety" briefing.

Neon Play go-karting

Go, go, go!!!

Once we'd squeezed into our race suits and helmets, it was non-stop action with 14 heats one after another. It was relentless and there were some titanic battles on the track, with much fist-waving, head shaking and general competitiveness. There were a lot of prangs as well and the red "stop racing" light was signalled too many times after another crunching thwack - mostly because of Matt (more of him later).

Helmet Cam...!

Have a look at some of the heart-stopping action from our very own helmet-cam.

The final countdown

After all the heats, we had a titanic and rather long and shattering final - it was 10 laps and the arms were beginning to ache - a lot. And with some fine driving in all departments, the podium places were taken by Paul, Matt and Oli, who retained his 2011 title.

Afterwards, it only made sense that we went for a cuzza to discuss the dodgy overtaking manoeuvres, the outrageous driving and the inability of Matt to see a kart in front of him.

iPhone 5 drama

All of us had handed in our iPhones in case they got damaged, but Matt proudly told us that he had kept his on himself in case it got stolen (from a locked cabinet). Also, he said he wanted to take some pics of the karting action. Imagine his surprise and utter dismay when he took his new £600 iPhone 5 out of his pocket and saw this had happened...Doh! Plus, he never got round to taking one photo. And no one else had their phones stolen (amazingly). There must be an Aesop's Fable in there somewhere.
