Super Star College

Stars in their eyes

Every little helps

From the very first day Neon Play was launched, we always promised to give a percentage of our profits (if we had any) to local charities. It made sense and we truly believe it’s important to help those less fortunate than ourselves. We are all so lucky to be healthy and mostly happy, so anything we can do to help people who aren’t so healthy or are having trouble in their lives, then that’s all great.

Local charities

We’ve been very fortunate to work with some brilliant charities and people, and we’re seriously proud to have supported cracking charities like Timmy’s Trust, Paternoster School, Hope for Tomorrow, CHYP, Hop Skip & Jump and a couple of others.

Super Star

And we were approached by the lovely people at Star College to see if we could help them in any way. It seemed like a good idea. Have a look at the video to see why...

Tour de Force

After a mouth-watering lunch at the incredible Star Bistro and a meeting with the Cotswold Chef Rob Rees, our CEO Oli Christie was shown around the amazing complex with some seriously impressive facilities. It was both an uplifting and humbling experience and the dedication of the carers was something to behold - these people are genuine heroes.

We're PC

Neon Play was given a list of items that Star College needed and we selected a brand spanking new snazzy touchscreen PC. Why? Well currently students are using computers that are not able to run some of the latest innovative learning and accessibility software due to age and specification. These computers have been upgraded as far as they can be.

Examples where students are missing out on using emerging technologies include high definition video playback and editing, latest versions of social media applications such as iTunes and some features of Facebook, and accessibility features such as running grid overlays.

So that’s great news and hopefully this will go a little way to helping students and carers going forward.

What they say:

Dave Dalby, Acting Director of College Development, National Star commented, “Having an all-in-one touchscreen PC that can be used as a conventional PC or flat as a table and tablet will mean students have the best of all accessibility options. Being able to use touch brings interactivity to learning resources and navigation to students who find using a mouse difficult. Some students have trays on their wheelchairs and will be able use this portable PC without the need to set up separate access controls to reach desk based equipment. Tutors will find this a fantastic tool for sharing ideas and resources round a table with a group of learners.”

Oli Christie, CEO of Neon Play commented, “I had the most incredible time going round Star College and I was incredibly moved by what I saw. All the team at Star College do a totally incredible job and it is our complete pleasure to work with them and fun a touchscreen PC. We look forward to helping them again in the future and to building a long and meaningful relationship with Star College.
